Above-the-fold

About half of visitors never scroll. If your hero section is a full-bleed image with a logo and a single line of copy, half your traffic decides before they have any information. The fold is not arbitrary real estate — it is the only chance many visitors give you.

The four-element pattern (headline, sub, CTA, proof) holds across categories. Stripe, Linear, Notion, and Vercel all anchor proof above the fold — three logos, a testimonial, a usage number — even on their most minimal pages. Pages that defer proof to the third scroll typically score 0.5-1.0 points lower on the Trust dimension.

Mobile compresses the fold to roughly 600 pixels. If your desktop fold uses 1080 pixels of vertical space, half of your mobile visitors miss the CTA and proof entirely. Designing for the mobile fold first usually improves the desktop fold too.

How Lytms scores it

Lytms scores the fold under multiple dimensions. The above-fold-value-prop module checks whether the headline names an outcome in the visible viewport. The trust-architecture module checks whether proof is placed above the price/CTA. The mobile-breakage module checks whether the four-element pattern survives at 390 pixels wide.
